Project Overview

Our project involves the construction of 21 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 315 MW off the coast of Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City in Akita Prefecture. It marks Japan’s first offshore wind power initiative under the Act on Promoting the Utilization of Sea Areas for the Renewable Energy. The project aims to start operations by June 2028.

Business Management
Policy

1

Make
Electricity

With companies and human resources who have gained extensive knowledge of Japan's weather and hydrographic conditions through offshore projects at domestic ports and in Taiwan, we will achieve Japan's first operational start* of a bottom-fixed offshore wind power generation project.

*This refers to a project based on the Act on Promoting the Utilization of Sea Areas for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities.

2

Create
an Industry

We will establish the largest offshore operations and maintenance company in Japan, with 86% of employees coming from Akita. We will expand our business into Asia and lay the foundation for a domestic maintenance industry.

3

Bring
Profit

"By utilizing ITOCHU Corporation's commercial infrastructure and collaborating with local businesses for cooperative sales efforts, we will cultivate businesses in Akita and establish a self-sustaining agricultural and fisheries industry.

4

Expand
Nationwide

We will contribute to the development of the domestic offshore wind industry by working on the development of local suppliers and the carbon-neutral industry, including battery storage.
