Message

Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Green Energy LLC. (OKAOGE) is a company dedicated to advancing Japan's domestic offshore wind industry. Its primary goal is to achieve the first domestic operation of a bottom-fixed offshore wind power generation project based on the Act on Promoting the Utilization of Sea Areas for Renewable Energy.

In December 2023, a consortium consisting of JERA Co., Inc., Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-Power), Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., and ITOCHU Corporation was selected as the project operator for the offshore areas near Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City in Akita Prefecture. In February 2024, our company was established as part of this initiative.

Our project involves the construction of 21 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 315 MW off the coast of Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City in Akita Prefecture, with operations scheduled to begin in June 2028. To return the benefits of this project to society as quickly and sustainably as possible, we are actively working towards achieving the coexistence and mutual prosperity of offshore wind power with the local fishing industry and surrounding communities.

Our company is focused on two key core principles: promoting the adoption of renewable energy and revitalizing the Akita region. Through the introduction of renewable energy, including offshore wind power, we aim to make a significant contribution to achieving a carbon neutral society by 2050. Furthermore, by fostering a carbon-neutral industry, we believe we can promote Akita’s majestic natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, while also creating employment opportunities, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the region. One of our company’s wishes is to create a community in Akita that is pleasant to live in for the local residents.

We are committed to building a collaborative framework with companies that are professionals in the offshore wind sector to ensure maximum performance in the limited timeframe before operations begin. While achieving the earliest possible deployment is not easy, we believe that by integrating our collective knowledge and experience, we can derive better solutions to overcome the challenges we face.

“Shaping the Future with Akita Winds
A New Step Towards Clean Energy”

Our company is committed to achieving for a cleaner and more thriving Akita alongside the local community. We sincerely appreciate the understanding and cooperation of everyone in the region.
