On May 28, 2026, we held an on-site briefing session for members of the media regarding the 2,500t crawler crane*1 installed at Akita Port (Iijima Wharf) and the substation*2 currently under construction.
During the briefing, we provided an overview of the project and updates on construction progress. We also showcased the world’s largest-class 2,500t crawler crane, introduced for the first time at a domestic offshore wind power construction site in Japan.
The introduction of the 2,500t crawler crane marks an important milestone, signifying that the offshore wind power construction project has entered its full-scale construction phase.
We will continue to advance the project safely and steadily toward the planned Commercial Operation Date in June 2028, while promoting coexistence and collaboration with the local community.
*1 A crawler crane is a large construction crane that travels on crawler tracks and is used for lifting and transporting heavy materials. In this project, it is used for unloading wind turbine components such as towers, nacelles, and blades, as well as for tower pre-assembly on tower stand. The contractors for this work are Kamigumi Co., Ltd. and DENZAI K.K., and the 2,500t crawler crane is owned by DENZAI K.K.
*2 A substation is a facility that receives electricity generated by offshore wind turbines onshore, performs voltage transformation and protection functions, and connects the power to the transmission grid.
