Career Seminar at Akita Prefectural Akita-Chuo High School

On January 30, 2025, we held an outreach lecture at Akita Prefectural Akita-Chuo High School for 208 first-year students , focusing on future career development through a two-part session consisting of a keynote speech and a lecture with group discussion.
Seven employees from our sponsor companies—JERA Co., Ltd., Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., and Itochu Corporation— introduced their backgrounds and shared insights and experiences they gained through their work, as well as lessons learned in the past.
This lecture was designed to help students expand their understanding of offshore wind power and, from the perspective of human resource development, to serve as an opportunity not only to cultivate interest in the energy industry and the sponsoring companies but also to discover future career paths and goals.
The school was designated as a Super Science High School (SSH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2013, with the theme of “developing future international scientific and technological human resources capable of proactively identifying and solving problems.”
The students asked insightful questions such as, ” What has been the most significant event in your life choices ?” and in-depth questions about offshore wind power, such as “Why is offshore wind power growing in Akita?” and “Can offshore wind power become a major industry in Akita?” This allowed us to successfully conclude the lecture with a sense of unity with the students.
Through this initiative, we continue to collaborate with local educational institutions, increasing awareness of the offshore wind power project while actively contributing to the development of the next generation of local talent.
