On 30 June 2026, we received a certificate following the completion of a conformity assessment against Japanese technical standards by Bureau Veritas Japan Co., Ltd., a registered conformity certification body, for the wind power generation facilities in our offshore wind power project offshore of Oga City, Katagami City and Akita City in Akita Prefecture, which we are currently developing.
The certificate of conformity signifies the completion of the design and certification process for the wind power generation facilities, as well as their compliance with Japanese legal requirements. This represents a significant milestone in the construction planning required under the Japanese Electricity Business Act. Furthermore, prior to this, on 1 June, we received a certificate of compliance with the technical standards under the Ports and Harbours Act from The Coastal Development Institute of Technology (CDIT).
This project involves Kajima Corporation(partnering with Kobori Research Complex Inc./COWI A/S), which is responsible for the monopile foundation design, Vestas and MHI Vestas Japan Co., Ltd., responsible for the wind turbine and tower design, and A.O.V. Arup & Partners Japan Limited, providing support as the owner’s engineer, among other stakeholders. This was achieved through the systematic and meticulous execution of a series of processes in the design and certification review, including site condition assessment, design basis evaluation, integrated load analysis and support structure design.
This project represents several first-of-its-kind achievements,
・The first fixed-bottom offshore wind project in Japan’s general sea area awarded through a public tender.
・The first offshore wind project in Japan utilizing turbines exceeding 10MW.
・The world’s fixed-bottom offshore wind project of the 15MW class designed with seismic considerations.
We will continue to advance the project safely and steadily towards the commencement of operations in June 2028.
