On June 23, 2026, the mayors of Oga City and Katagami City visited Iijima Wharf at Akita Port to gain an overview of the base port for the offshore wind power project being developed off the coast of Oga, Katagami, and Akita City.
During the visit, the mayors received an overview of the ongoing development of the base port and the progress of the offshore wind project. At the construction site, they observed key equipment including one of the world’s largest 2,500t crawler cranes, multi-axle transporters used for carrying wind turbine components, as well as the designated areas for upcoming material deliveries.
This visit provided a valuable opportunity for local municipalities to deepen their understanding of the project and to further strengthen collaboration going forward.
