Akita City Mayor Visits Base Port for Offshore Wind Project (Event Date: July 3, 2026)

On July 3, 2026, the Mayor of Akita City visited Iijima Wharf at Akita Port and toured the base port facilities supporting the offshore wind power project being developed offshore of Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City in Akita Prefecture.
During the visit, the Mayor received an overview of the ongoing development of the base port and the progress of the offshore wind project. At the construction site, the Mayor also inspected various heavy construction equipment, including one of the world’s largest 2,500-ton crawler cranes and multi-axle transporters used for the transportation of wind turbine components, as well as the planned area for component delivery and storage.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to further enhance understanding of offshore wind power as an important energy initiative for Akita Prefecture and to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders as the project moves forward.
We remain committed to advancing sustainable energy while working closely with local communities and contributing to regional development through the successful implementation of the offshore wind project.
