Governor of Akita Prefecture Visits Base Port for Offshore Wind Power Project (Event Date: July 2, 2026)

On July 2, 2026, the Governor of Akita Prefecture visited Iijima Wharf at Akita Port and toured the base port supporting the offshore wind power project currently being developed off the coast of Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City in Akita Prefecture.
During the visit, the Governor received an overview of the development of the base port facilities and the progress of the offshore wind power project. The Governor also inspected the construction site, including one of the world’s largest 2,500-ton crawler cranes, multi-axle transporters used for the transportation of wind turbine components, and the designated area for future component deliveries.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to further deepen understanding of offshore wind power generation as an important energy initiative for Akita Prefecture and to exchange views on the project’s role in regional development and the transition toward a decarburized society.
We will continue to advance the project in close collaboration with local communities and stakeholders, contributing to the realization of a sustainable energy future and the long-term development of the region.
